Russian troops attacked a residential building in the Sumy region. As a result of the attack, 20-year-old Dasha Serhiienko was killed after shielding her six-year-old sister, Shostka Medical College reports.

According to the prosecutor's office, on March 28 at around 12:00, Russian troops attacked a house of civilians in the Znob-Novhorodske community of the Shostka district using artillery.

As a result of the attack, the older sister was killed, and the six-year-old girl sustained severe injuries. Prosecutors, together with other law enforcement officers, are documenting the consequences of the attack.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration clarified that the 6-year-old child is in an extremely serious condition. She was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery.

Doctors are fighting for the girl's life and consulting with specialists from Okhmatdyt (Ukraine's largest children's hospital in Kyiv). According to medical indicators, transportation is currently impossible.

The parents were also injured and received necessary assistance. They are staying with their daughter.

At Shostka Medical College, where Dasha studied, it was reported that she shielded her younger sister during the Russian attack.

"A very young life was cut short by enemy attack. Dasha shielded her little sister. This act will forever remain in our memory as a symbol of the highest self-sacrifice," the statement says.

The administration, teaching staff, and students express sincere condolences to the family.

Attacks on the Sumy region

Sumy region is subjected to daily massive attacks by Russian troops, which lead to civilian deaths, destruction of residential buildings, and critical infrastructure, especially in border communities.

The enemy uses various types of weapons — guided aerial bombs, missiles, artillery, and drones.

Thus, recently, as a result of one attack, three people were killed, and another 13 were injured.

Before that, enemy drones killed a truck driver and a motorcyclist — the enemy deliberately targeted vehicles, which led to tragedies.

In addition, a Russian drone attacked a passenger train in the Sumy region; people were evacuated.
