The 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the Ukrainian Air Force reveals a video showing the downing of a Geran-5 jet drone by the new STING S interceptor.
On September 21, the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment revealed a video showing the Rubin crew using the new STING S interceptor, manufactured by the company Wild Hornets, to shoot down a Russian Geran-5 jet drone.

The technical specifications of the STING S have not yet been officially disclosed. Earlier versions had a claimed hit probability of 80–90%, a range of about 25 km (up to 37 km in newer versions), four rotors, a cruising speed of 140–170 km/h and a maximum speed of up to 280 km/h, as well as the ability to climb above 7,000 meters.
The drones' airframes are manufactured using a 3D printer; the aircraft do not require a catapult to launch and can return to their launch point if another interceptor destroys the target.
How Geran-5 differs from its predecessors
The Geran-5 differs significantly from other drones in the series. Instead of the delta-shaped wing characteristic of the Geran-4, the developers opted for an aerodynamic configuration more similar to that of a winged missile. The drone, which is about 6 m long and has a wingspan of up to 5.5 m, carries a warhead weighing approximately 90 kg.
The drone is equipped with a Chinese TELEFLY TF-TJ2000A jet engine, accelerates to 450–600 km/h, flies at altitudes of up to 6,000 m, and has a claimed range of about 1,000 km.
Serhii Beskrestnov, the Ukrainian President's advisor on defense technologies, confirmed the combat operation of the new jet-powered interceptor drone, which struck the Geran-5 that very same day.
