Ukraine's special forces eliminate group of North Korean military in Kursk region
Operators of the 8th Regiment of the Special Operations Forces eliminated 13 North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. One of the killed soldiers could have been an officer, according to the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the special operations, Ukraine's Special Operations Forces soldiers eliminated 5 North Korean fighters in a firefight. In particular, they eliminated 8 more soldiers with drones.
After the battle, the bodies of North Korean soldiers and their personal belongings were examined. One of the killed soldiers had:
- an assault rifle with a collimator sight;
- Chinese-Russian radio station Azart;
- a drone detector;
- an ID card that differed from a regular military ID.
The aforementioned items may indicate that one of the fighters was an officer.
“Among other things, the North Korean soldier was carrying a letter of appeal to the party,” the SOF added.
Kursk region
The operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region began in early August 2024. In the fall, Western media reported that Ukrainian soldiers had lost more than 40% of the territory in the region that they controlled after the offensive.
Recently, it has become known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Russians in the Kursk region on several fronts.
Meanwhile, the Special Operations Forces demonstrated their work in the region.
