Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) carried out a precision strike on a Russian troop concentration in the village of Zatyshok in the Donetsk region, according to the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The building housed units of the 1st and 9th separate motorized rifle brigades, which are part of Russia's 51st Army and were preparing for further action under the cover of weather conditions.
The Russian group is trying to create conditions for encircling the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration from the north, but Ukrainian special forces prevented the accumulation of forces. Despite difficult weather conditions, the strike drones successfully reached their target.
Information about the extent of Russian losses is being clarified.
The SOF emphasizes that it continues to use asymmetric actions to reduce Russia's offensive capabilities in this direction.
Fighting in Pokrovsk direction
Russian troops have been stepping up their efforts to establish control over Pokrovsk for several weeks. Some Russian units managed to penetrate the city, where fierce clashes are currently ongoing.
Fighting is also taking place on the approaches to Pokrovsk, as Russian forces are trying to encircle the entire Pokrovsk agglomeration. At first, Russia tried to advance from the south, from the areas of Zviereve and Roza. Later, the main pressure shifted westward, toward Kotlin and the industrial zone in the northwestern part of the city.
Recently, there have been attempts by the Russians to move from the southeast. According to information from the Airborne Assault Forces, several days ago, there were more than 300 Russian troops in Pokrovsk. They also reported that the enemy took advantage of the fog to enter the city with light equipment.
The goal of these groups is to break through to the northern outskirts of Pokrovsk and create conditions for further encirclement. At the same time, as of November 10, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, the Russians have not managed to cut off Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, and fighting in the area remains extremely intense.
