Ukraine's new Varta-3 can carry 10 people and survive powerful mine blasts

At the MSPO-2026 exhibition in Poland, Ukrainian Armor presented two new armored vehicles — the lightly armored Saigak-1 and the Varta-3 MRAP, the company reported.
Saigak-1: Armored pickup for everyday tasks
The armored vehicle is designed for the safe and rapid transportation of personnel during combat operations, special operations, training, and patrols, and can also be used to respond to the consequences of natural disasters and man-made accidents. The body has PZSA 3 ballistic protection and Level 1 mine protection under STANAG 4569.

The all-wheel-drive chassis and 240-horsepower diesel engine provide a maximum speed of up to 140 kilometers per hour and a range of up to 600 kilometers with an 80-liter fuel tank.
The crew consists of 2 people, with another 3 seats for troops. The vehicle is equipped with front and rear cameras, an automatic fire suppression system, RunFlat wheels, air conditioning, and heating.
Varta-3: MRAP with enhanced mine protection
The new vehicle is an improved version of the Varta-2 and is built on the German Mercedes-Benz Unimog chassis. The body has PZSA 6 ballistic protection and Level 3a/3b mine protection under STANAG 4569.
The 4×4 all-wheel drive, automatic transmission, and 326-horsepower diesel engine with 1,400 Nm of torque provide mobility at a gross weight of up to 14,800 kilograms; the maximum speed is up to 100 kilometers per hour.

The vehicle has a crew of 2 and can carry 8 troops. To protect personnel, it is equipped with mine-resistant seats, communication and navigation systems, video surveillance, automatic fire suppression, air conditioning, heating, and a filter ventilation unit. For combat missions, the Varta-3 can be equipped with a rotating platform for a machine gun or a remotely controlled weapon station.
The company's CEO, Vladyslav Belbas, noted that presenting new products at MSPO in Poland has already become a tradition for the company. According to him, the Varta-3 was built on a new chassis, which made it possible to reduce the vehicle's cost and improve its driving characteristics, while the Saigak-1 is intended to replace the military's regular everyday transport with a more protected option.
Earlier, Ukrainian Armor's Varta armored vehicles and the medical Novator had been tested in the hottest areas of the front line — their armored capsules withstood kamikaze drone strikes and heavy machine gun fire, protecting their crews.
On the same day that the company presented the Saigak-1 and Varta-3, other Ukrainian manufacturers also made their mark at MSPO-2026: Ukroboronprom (Ukraine's state-owned defense industry company) demonstrated for the first time a launcher for the Korall anti-aircraft missile mounted on the chassis of a Czech Tatra truck.
