Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with EU Diplomacy Chief Josep Borrell. In particular, they discussed Ukraine's cooperation with European defense companies, reports the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on X.

Umerov stated that he thanked Borrell for his personal involvement and the continuous support that the EU provides to Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Defense Minister emphasized the need for a significant increase in ammunition supplies to defend against Russian aggression.

"Offered cooperation to European defense companies, particularly in creating joint ventures and investing in production on the territory of Ukraine," Umerov added.

He also informed Borrell about the reforms being implemented within the Ministry of Defense, particularly in the area of defense procurement.

Ukraine's cooperation with European defense companies

Ukraine is already cooperating with defense companies from EU countries.

In particular, on October 24th of last year, it became known that the Ukrainian Defense Industry and the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall had established a joint venture.

Later, it was revealed that Rheinmetall plans to launch its plant in Ukraine as early as 2024.
