Ukraine's MoD and Syrskyi hold first working meeting to discuss 2024 action plan
Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov held the first working meeting with the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
During the meeting, a detailed action plan for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for 2024 was discussed. The following issues were raised:
- Establishing a logistics system;
- Ensuring timely fulfillment of military needs;
- Implementing an effective system of unit rotation and rest.
Additionally, the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU discussed:
- Improving the quality of training and providing support to training centers;
- Training new instructors and incorporating modern expertise.
Special attention was given to Unmanned Systems Forces.
"We expect new decisions, the consolidation of experience, and most importantly - technical tasks for the development of new models. Those that will give us a strategic advantage tomorrow. Thank you, General Colonel, for the substantive meeting," stated Umerov.
Appointment of Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the AFU
Yesterday, February 8, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the decision to dismiss Valerii Zaluzhnyi from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the AFU. Instead, Oleksandr Sirskyi was appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief.
Rumors of Zaluzhnyi's dismissal emerged at the end of January 2024, although there were discussions about his possible dismissal even before then.
