The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive the upgraded Gyurza-2 armored vehicle, equipped with a camera suite, mine-resistant protection and integrated artificial intelligence, according to the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense.

The vehicle was upgraded in response to requests from military personnel. Engineers strengthened the independent suspension, replaced several components and installed tires with improved performance. As a result, the vehicle's off-road capability and survivability in challenging combat conditions have increased.

The armored hull has been fitted with all-round anti-fragmentation lining, providing additional protection for the crew, troops and onboard equipment from shrapnel damage.

The upgraded Gyurza-2 weighs just over 18 tons. Its payload capacity has increased to 2.5 tons, ground clearance has been raised to 380 mm, and operational range has been extended to 1,200 km. The vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 110 km/h. Its mine-resistant protection is designed to protect the crew against explosions equivalent to up to 8 kg of TNT.

The improved Gyurza-2 can be produced in two configurations: with a rotating weapons turret or without one.

The specialized armored vehicle is equipped with ventilation, heating and air-conditioning systems, as well as an autonomous fuel-powered heater. In addition, it features fire-suppression systems for both the engine compartment and troop compartment, a night-vision system and a panoramic television surveillance system consisting of four video cameras.

The vehicles can also be equipped with software that uses artificial intelligence to monitor the surrounding environment.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine would receive 100 VAMTAC armored vehicles and 155 mm ammunition from Spain, with the first deliveries expected at the beginning of May.
