Ukraine and Russia are likely to reach a ceasefire in 2025. However, the length and effectiveness of such an agreement remain open questions, Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, says in an interview with the journalist Eynulla Fatullayev.

"You know, it’s a paradoxical situation. Even though the starting positions of both sides are as diametrically opposed as possible, I still believe that this year we will reach a ceasefire. How long it will last and how effective it will be - that’s another question. But I do believe it will happen. Most of the necessary factors for this are already in place," Budanov stated.

Possible negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

During the Munich Security Conference, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his willingness to negotiate with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. However, Zelenskyy emphasized that such talks could only take place if a coordinated plan was first established with US President Donald Trump and European allies.

Meanwhile, Western media reports suggest that the US and Russia have allegedly developed a peace plan for Ukraine, which includes holding new elections as a key step in resolving the conflict.

At the same time, Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, clarified that a ceasefire would not mean the end of the war, as Russia would likely continue its creeping aggression against European countries.

According to The Telegraph, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to present US President Donald Trump with a proposal next week to deploy 30,000 European peacekeepers to Ukraine.
