Ukraine's intel chief debunks reports about DPRK troops withdrawing from Kursk front
Around eight thousand North Korean soldiers are still fighting on the front line in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. However, recently their numbers have been reduced, states the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, in a comment to The War Zone.
According to him, North Korean troops are still engaged in combat on the front line in the Kursk region, although their activity has decreased in recent days due to significant losses.
Budanov noted that media reports claiming North Korean troops have not been seen on the front line for weeks are "false."
"We have to wait some time to see if there are any real changes or if this is just lower activities for a couple of days," explained the head of Defense Intelligence.
North Korean troops in the Kursk region
Recently, The New York Times reported that North Korean soldiers were withdrawn from the front line in the Kursk region due to heavy losses on the battlefield.
As Ukrainian Special Operations Forces spokesperson Oleksandr Kindratenko told RBC-Ukraine, Russia has pulled North Koreans from several directions.
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, North Korean forces have not participated in assaults in the Kursk region in recent weeks. It is currently unknown whether the enemy plans to return them.
