On the night of January 24, drones of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces attacked many Russian facilities involved in the supply of the Russian occupation army, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The attack resulted in fires at the production facilities of the Ryazan Oil Refining Company and at the Ryazan oil pumping station.

According to sources in the SSU, the drones also attacked the Ryazan thermal power plant.

The refinery, in turn, is one of the largest in Russia with a processing capacity of 17 million tons of oil per year. At least three tanks are currently on fire. Moreover, the fire has also engulfed the shop where the diesel fuel and jet fuel hydrotreatment unit is located.

Among other things, the Kremniy El microelectronics plant in Bryansk, which is one of the key enterprises in Russia's microelectronics industry, was hit. The plant produces a range of chips and components used in strategically important weapons systems:

  • Topol-M missile systems;
  • Bulava missile systems
  • S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems
  • onboard electronics of combat aircraft.

“The systematic and targeted destruction of facilities that supply the Russian occupation army with fuel and lubricants and military equipment will continue until the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine is completely stopped,” Ukraine's General Staff writes.

According to the 14th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the affected Kremniy El produces microcircuit components that are also used in:

  • Pantsir-S1/S2 surface-to-air missiles
  • Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles;
  • Su-35 fighter aircraft.

Strikes on targets in Russia

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, cases of fires and explosions in Russia have become more frequent. The Security Service of Ukraine, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine regularly strike at strategically important Russian targets, such as ammunition depots, oil refineries, and military bases.

These actions are aimed at weakening the combat capabilities of the Russian army and creating psychological pressure on Russians.

That night, Russians complained of a drone attack in Ryazan. Residents reported ten explosions near an oil refinery that occurred at midnight.
