Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Syzran oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region with drones on August 15. A Russian command post in the temporarily occupied city of Yenakiieve in the Donetsk region was also attacked, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

In particular, the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region, one of the largest in the Rosneft system, was hit.

The refinery produces a wide range of fuels, including aviation kerosene, and contributes to supplying the Russian army.

According to the General Staff, the strike caused a fire and explosions.

In addition, Ukrainian forces attacked the command post of the 132nd Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the 51st Russian Army in Yenakiieve, on temporarily occupied territory in the Donetsk region.

Both targets were hit, and the results are currently being clarified.

The General Staff added that the strikes were carried out by units of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces in coordination with other units of the Defense Forces.

“The Defense Forces continue to take measures to undermine the military-economic potential of Russian occupiers and force Russia to stop armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff stated.

What we know about attacks

Late in the evening of August 14, unknown drones attacked Yenakiieve, a city temporarily under Russian control in the Donetsk region.

By the morning of August 15,loud explosions were reported in Syzran, Samara region, Russia. Local residents complained about a drone strike on the oil refinery.

The previous day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the largest oil refinery in Volgograd, causing large fires, with details of the consequences still being clarified.

Ukrainian kamikaze drones also attacked a pumping station on the Transneft Druzhba pipeline in Unecha, Bryansk region.

On the same day, Russian authorities reported a drone attack on an oil refinery in Slavyansk-na-Kubani, Krasnodar Krai.
