Ukraine's foreign minister urges partners to increase weapons production
Ukraine and its Western partners must increase weapon production to counter Russia, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with the German channel ARD.
"Ukraine, along with its partners, should also boost weapon production. They should act together as a military coalition, as brothers in arms. We must remain strong, protecting Ukraine and defending the entire Europe," Kuleba said.
The minister added that Ukraine can handle the blockade of further assistance from the EU by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
He also believes that the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU could persuade the United States to provide further assistance to the country.
EU's €50 billion for Ukraine
The European Commission has proposed providing financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €50 billion by 2027.
On December 14, EU leaders discussed this initiative at the summit in Brussels. However, on December 15, Hungary vetoed the decision, despite the support of the other 26 bloc members.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he would not approve such a decision until the bloc releases all funds earmarked for his country, which were previously frozen.
