Today, on April 18, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. They discussed the provision of more Patriot systems to Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA).

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 Ministerial Summit in Capri.

During the talks, the Minister expressed gratitude to Ukrainian partners for their assistance, as well as the recent decision to allocate additional US Patriot air defense systems.

According to Kuleba, the role of the United States in providing our country with an air defense system is invaluable, but it is important to stop Russia's air terror as soon as possible.

"The sides discussed in detail joint global efforts to provide Ukraine with more Patriot air defense systems and missiles as soon as possible," the Ministry says.

In particular, the parties emphasized the importance of the US Congress passing an additional aid package for Ukraine, which will send a signal of strength and confidence and improve the situation on the battlefield.

"The Foreign Minister emphasized that on the sidelines of the ministerial summit, systematic work continues to ensure that the allies provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems as soon as possible. Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that the key element in this matter is consistent and sustainable support of Ukraine," the Foreign Ministry adds.

Air defense systems for Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale enemy invasion, Ukraine has been constantly working to strengthen its air defense. At the same time, due to the intensification of massive Russian shelling, this issue has become particularly acute today.

According to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for Ukraine to fully protect its skies, it needs 25 units of American Patriot air defense systems.

Earlier, Kuleba said that Ukraine had managed to find 100 free Patriots, but Kyiv plans to get at least 7 of them to start with.
