Ukrainian defenders are helping to neutralize the informational and military aspects of Russia’s breakthrough in the Donetsk region, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

"The informational component of Russian military actions in Donetsk region, involving a breakthrough that Putin (Russian President Vladimir Putin – ed.) had counted on before his meeting with Trump (US President Donald Trump – ed.), as well as the military component, is gradually being neutralized through the efforts of the Defense Forces," Kovalenko said.

Russian advance near Dobropillia

A few days ago, information appeared online claiming that Russian forces had broken through Ukrainian defenses near Dobropillia and advanced 12 kilometers into Ukrainian territory.

A representative of the Dnipro operational-strategic grouping of troops, Viktor Trehubov, emphasized that only small groups of a few soldiers managed to penetrate this area.

At the same time, a source from military circles told RBC-Ukraine that this was not a breakthrough, but rather a gradual infiltration that took place over almost a week.

Another interlocutor noted that the situation near Dobropillia is difficult, but not critical.

More details on what is happening at the front in the Donetsk region can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.

Incidentally, these developments on the front are occurring just before the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Alaska, scheduled for August 15.
