The Russian forces did not occupy the village of Vilne Pole in the Donetsk region. Their video was staged, according to the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade.
What preceded this
Recently, Russia circulated a video that allegedly proved the occupation of the village of Vilne Pole in the Donetsk region by Russian forces.
What the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade says
According to the Ukrainian military, the video released by Russia was staged. It reports that a group of Russian soldiers infiltrated the village and immediately filmed a video of themselves waving the tricolor flag.
However, it didn’t last long. Just minutes after filming their so-called "success," the Russian troops received a "holiday gift" from Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
Fighters from the 15th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, together with comrades from the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade, struck the enemy.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, the rocket forces and artillery of the Defense Forces struck three areas where enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, as well as five enemy rocket and artillery systems.
In total, Russian forces lost 1,030 personnel in the past 24 hours. Ukrainian forces also destroyed one tank, five armored fighting vehicles, 58 artillery systems, one multiple launch rocket system, 118 operational-tactical UAVs, 105 vehicles, two pieces of special equipment, and two heavy flamethrower systems.
