Russia is demonstrating complete disregard for calls for peace and is openly rejecting the peace initiatives of US President Donald Trump due to a lack of adequate pressure, states Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha.
The head of the Ukrainian foreign ministry emphasized that the Russian side is openly demonstrating arrogance regarding the resolution of the conflict.
"Russia rejects peace. Everyone knows it. But how openly they are prepared to reject President Trump's proposals shows just how arrogant they are," Sybiha noted.
The diplomat emphasized the direct relationship between international pressure on the Kremlin and the level of its aggressive rhetoric.
"Russian murderers have zero respect for calls for peace. This is what happens when pressure eases: the less pressure, the more arrogance," the minister added.
Recently, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov categorically rejected the possibility of any ceasefire on Ukrainian territory.
In Moscow, the statement was explained by the claim that a temporary pause in hostilities would allegedly allow the Ukrainian Defense Forces to regroup and receive new batches of weapons from Western partners.
Furthermore, the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs traditionally accused the Ukrainian authorities of creating unacceptable conditions for holding presidential elections.
In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously noted that Ukraine is ready to hold elections for a new president, but exclusively on the condition that Russian leader Vladimir Putin agrees to a full 60-day ceasefire.
Currently, the Kremlin continues to reject all diplomatic proposals regarding a ceasefire.
