Ukraine's eastern front: Expert warns of escalating battles this summer
Russia has not abandoned its goal to reach the borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political observer from the Information Resistance group, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, stated that, therefore, during the summer, fierce battles may occur on two or even three fronts simultaneously in the east.
"All things considered, the situation at the front will be similar in the summer. The main goal is to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk region, and the Russians will continue to put pressure as part of this plan," said Kovalenko to RBC-Ukraine.
"It will be both Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk directions. It is quite possible that shortly we will also see Toretsk. These are the locations where the fiercest fighting will take place," Kovalenko explained.
Situation at the front in Ukraine
The Russian military command has long been obsessed with reaching the borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Currently, the situation at the front is challenging.
The Russians have not abandoned the idea of capturing the two regions in eastern Ukraine even after the occupation of Avdiivka. Heavy fighting is now ongoing for Chasiv Yar.
Moreover, if they succeed in the Donbas and capture the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the occupiers also intend to capture the Zaporizhzhia region.
