Ukraine reveals details of record drone attack on two Russian industrial giants

On September 9, Deep Strike units of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces struck two major facilities in Russia’s gas condensate industry — the Novy Urengoy and Purovsky plants.
Both facilities are located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, one of Russia’s key oil and gas regions, where significant hydrocarbon production and processing capacity is concentrated.
In 2025, the Purovsky Condensate Processing Plant processed 13.4 million tonnes of gas condensate. The facility is also an important part of Russia’s gas condensate industry.
The industry is strategically important to the Russian economy and generates revenue for the budget.
The Special Operations Forces stressed that the operation was part of Ukraine’s long-range strikes against facilities that are important to Russia’s ability to continue the war.
"For the first time! The largest strike since the beginning of the war," the Special Operations Forces said, commenting on the operation.
Earlier on September 9, Ukrainian drones struck the Novy Urengoy Condensate Preparation Plant in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Fire Point said its FP-1 drones traveled more than 3,200 km, setting a new strike range record.
