Ukraine returns five more children from Russia and occupied territories
Five more Ukrainian children, along with their families, have returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory. The return took place as part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Bring Kids Back UA initiative, reports Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Yermak shared that among those who returned were three Ukrainians who had just turned 18.
"Two of them had been in Russia for an extended period, where they faced psychological pressure, and the third young man, deprived of family support, finally left the temporarily occupied territory," Yermak said.
The head of the President's Office also noted that an important achievement was the liberation of a family of four whose children, aged 11 and 14, had become targets of persecution due to the family’s pro-Ukrainian stance. He also mentioned the assistance provided to a 77-year-old woman who was unable to evacuate on her own.
Yermak emphasized that the stories of these Ukrainians highlight the terror and fear that people in occupied territories are forced to endure.
"The coordination of Ukrainian government bodies and institutions, active support from volunteers, civil society organizations, and international partners made this result possible — Ukrainians who survived difficult trials are finally home. I am grateful to the teams at the Office of the President, the Ombudsman’s Office, and everyone involved who made this return possible," he wrote.
At the end of his post, Andriy Yermak stressed that all Ukrainian children must be brought home without exception and under any conditions.
