Ukraine returns another child from occupied left bank of Kherson region
Another child has been successfully brought back from the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region. An 8-year-old boy was transported to the territory controlled by Ukraine, according to the Telegram account of the head of Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
"An eight-year-old boy, who had been under the pressure of Russian occupation on the left bank of Kherson region, is finally on the territory controlled by Ukraine," reported Prokudin.
According to him, the child's return was made possible thanks to the persistent work of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine within the framework of the Bring Kids Back UA President of Ukraine's approved action plan.
The boy and his grandmother were forced to obtain Russian documents, and the child was also sent to an occupation school. However, he secretly continued studying online at a Ukrainian educational institution.
"Fortunately, nothing threatens them anymore. The grandmother and grandson are receiving the necessary assistance," added the head of the Regional State Administration.
As Prokudin noted, since the beginning of 2025, two children have returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region.
Deportation of Ukrainian children
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been mass deporting Ukrainian children. They are being taken to Belarus, Russia, and some to the occupied Crimea.
According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has deported over 19,500 children from Ukraine. More than a thousand young Ukrainians have managed to return home.
It should be noted that the deportation of Ukrainian children was the reason for the International Criminal Court in The Hague issuing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia's Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova.
