Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion, Russia has unlawfully relocated thousands of Ukrainian children, either holding them in Russia or in occupied territories. Additionally, the Kremlin has encouraged Russian citizens to adopt Ukrainian children and simplified the process of granting Russian citizenship to them.

In the case of the deportation of Ukrainian children, the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova.

Recently, Ukraine was able to repatriate 11 children from Russia who were unlawfully deported by occupiers.
