Ukraine repels breakthrough threat in Kharkiv direction: Military details
Ukrainian forces repelled the threat of a Russian breakthrough in the Kharkiv direction on May 26. The occupiers attempted to break through in the Strilecha-Hlyboke area, reports a spokesman for the Khortytsia military unit Nazar Voloshyn.
"In the Kharkiv region, the Defense Forces stopped the enemy in the Strilecha-Hlyboke direction, successfully pushing them back from those positions. The advance was halted in that direction. Currently, systematic work is underway to dislodge the enemy from occupied positions. The Defense Forces timely took up most of the defensive lines," he said.
According to him, the enemy had some success in the Vovchansk direction and in the Strilecha-Hlyboke direction.
"The occupiers are trying to saturate these directions with equipment and manpower to prevent the Defense Forces from seizing tactical initiative on the battlefield. Of course, the enemy continues attempts to break through the Armed Forces of Ukraine's (AFU) defenses near Lyptsi, Vovchansk, Tykhe, and Starytsia," the spokesperson added.

Moreover, according to Voloshyn, the enemy continues to exert pressure on Vovchansk and Lyptsi.
"But thanks to the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enemy troops are stuck on the road in Lyptsi and completely bogged down in Vovchansk, with the AFU pushing them out," he added.
Additionally, Russian troops are attempting to assault Vovchansk with infantry units.
Situation in the Kharkiv direction
A few hours earlier, the General Staff of the AFU reported that the threat of a breakthrough by Russians in the Kharkiv direction had been repelled, and stable defense was ensured. Wherever the invaders continue their attacks, they are suffering significant losses. Ukrainian artillery and infantry units are interacting effectively.
Meanwhile, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia is assembling another group of troops near the Ukrainian border. The occupiers are preparing an offensive 90 kilometers northwest of Kharkiv.
