On the night of October 1, Russia launched a new attack on Ukraine, deploying 32 Shahed kamikaze drones from the regions of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, and Chauda (Crimea), according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Thanks to the efforts of aviation, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, 29 drones were shot down in the Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Three more drones were neutralized through electronic warfare measures, with their losses recorded without significant consequences.
Night Shahed attack
On the evening of September 30, Russian occupiers launched kamikaze drones toward Ukraine, with Shaheds breaching Ukrainian airspace from the north.
Several regions in Ukraine declared air raid alerts due to the threat of drone attacks. In the early hours of October 1, the air defense system was activated in Kyiv Oblast, with enemy Shahed drones detected.
In September, Russian terrorists, for the first time during the full-scale war, attacked Ukraine with strike drones every single night. On average, the aggressor launched 44 drones per day, with a record set on September 14, when 72 drones were launched.
