He said that the issue of missing persons was discussed separately with the Russian side. The ombudsman noted that at the previous meeting, he had submitted a request concerning 1,500 missing people.
Lubinets said that Russia officially informed Ukraine today that it had located 79 Ukrainian prisoners of war from that list.
"We have an additional mechanism for searching. Finally, this is not a bad result, considering how long we waited for a simple reply. And finding anyone from the missing list is good news for us," the ombudsman stressed.
It was reported today that 103 Ukrainians returned home from Russian captivity. In the exchange, Ukraine handed 103 Russian prisoners of war back to Russia.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Russia had begun "fattening up" Ukrainian prisoners before exchanges in an attempt to conceal the actual conditions of their detention. According to Ukrainian military personnel and civilians released from captivity, this is also one of the methods of torture.
In addition, Russia recently launched a new information campaign related to prisoner exchanges. Russian authorities published lists of Ukrainians allegedly being held in captivity, claiming that Kyiv was refusing to return them.
In response, Dmytro Lubinets stressed that Ukraine seeks to bring all its citizens home from captivity without exception.
