Czech volunteers have delivered a Black Hawk helicopter to Ukraine, funded by donations from citizens of Czechia and Slovakia, according to the volunteer initiative Darek pro Putina (Gift for Putin) on X.

"The Black Hawk UH-60 Čestmír helicopter has arrived in Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who believed in this and contributed," the fundraising organizers said.

They added that more than 20,000 people donated money for the helicopter. Czechia became the first country in the world whose citizens gifted Ukraine a helicopter, with many Slovaks also joining the effort.

Fundraising for the Black Hawk

Back in December, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence reported that Czech citizens were raising money for a Black Hawk helicopter specifically for Ukrainian intelligence units.

By December, volunteers had collected two-thirds of the helicopter’s cost — $3 million.

The Defense Intelligence noted that Ukrainian intelligence officers already operate several such helicopters, which are used to destroy Russian forces.

The UH-60 Black Hawk is a medium-lift, multi-purpose military helicopter.

Today, many variants exist, including the naval SH-60, the search-and-rescue HH-60, the coast guard MH-60, and the civilian S-70, all of which are operated by the United States and other countries around the world.

The Black Hawk is renowned for its reliability, versatility, and durability. It is used for troop transport, air operations, medical evacuation, command and control, as well as special and humanitarian missions.
