Ukraine has received €2.9 billion from the European Union under the Ukraine Facility initiative, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.
The prime minister noted that this is part of the funding already allocated under the Ukraine Facility, which became possible thanks to Ukraine fulfilling 10 indicators during the first and second quarters of 2026 and earlier.
They concern the banking sector, energy, agricultural policy, transport and other areas. In particular, three indicators were fulfilled ahead of schedule.
"In the context of a difficult financial situation, these funds are critically important for the resilience of the state, ensuring key expenditures and making it possible to direct more of our own resources to defense," Koretskyi stressed.
However, according to him, the need for financing remains critical.
"We are doing everything possible to speed up the adoption of all government decisions. We are also working with parliament to adopt the necessary bills as soon as possible," the prime minister added.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, thanked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU member states for the decision to provide Ukraine with €2.9 billion.
"This support is especially timely and will help ensure Ukraine’s macrofinancial stability and strengthen our defense capabilities. We are working together in full coordination to implement all our agreements. I thank the European Union for its assistance and unwavering solidarity," the head of state said.
Ukraine Facility
The Ukraine Facility support program was launched in 2024. It provides up to €50 billion in grants and loans to support Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction and modernization from 2024 to 2027.
The program includes a specific list of structural reforms and measures aimed at promoting sustainable economic development in Ukraine, the green transition, digital transformation and European integration.
On September 24, the Council of the European Union approved the eighth tranche of aid for Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility initiative. The amount is €3 billion.
