In the first days of the Middle East conflict, Israel and its allies used about 800 Patriot missiles against Iran, while Ukraine has received only about 600 of these missiles throughout the entire war, according to The New York Times.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius, countries in the Middle East fired more than 800 Patriot missiles during the first few days of the war in Iran last week.

The missiles were used to counter thousands of Iranian attack drones and more than 500 ballistic missiles.

Presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn also said that Ukraine has received only about 600 Patriot missiles during all four years of the war.

Ukraine upgrades air defense

It should be recalled that in February, Zelenskyy said that due to a critical shortage of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, Ukrainian launchers remained empty last month and were unable to repel Russian ballistic missile attacks.

He also previously noted that Ukraine’s Defense Forces have made a significant contribution to strengthening the protection of Ukrainian cities from Russian drone attacks, but this level of defense is still insufficient, especially in key and most vulnerable areas.

Zelenskyy also emphasized that personnel decisions are planned within the Air Force units responsible for countering these drones. Their goal is to significantly strengthen the effectiveness of short-range air defense in the most problematic directions.
