Ukraine ready for ceasefire, while Russia finds reasons to prevent it - Zelenskyy's office

Ukraine has already proposed an immediate ceasefire, but Russia is not showing any willingness to agree and continues to find reasons to reject it, according to Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with NewsForce.
According to Budanov, the Ukrainian side has already publicly stated its proposal to cease hostilities.
"As of now, there is a very clear offer which was voiced by the president of Ukraine himself: Ukraine is calling upon an immediate ceasefire," the head of the OP said.
At the same time, in his assessment, Moscow's position remains the opposite. Russia is not showing any willingness to agree to a ceasefire and continues to give reasons why it should not happen now.
"Russia is very openly now saying that it does not want this, that it is not ready, and is finding reasons why this should not happen now," Budanov said.
War must eventually end
The head of the Office of the President also drew attention to Russia's actions. According to him, they currently do not indicate that Moscow is ready to end the war.
At the same time, Budanov stressed that the war cannot continue indefinitely and must eventually end.
"This war has been going on for far too long, and the time will come when it must end," the head of the OP said.
Budanov on the US role
He separately emphasized the importance of US involvement in the peace process. According to Budanov, Washington's influence gives Ukraine an opportunity to move toward ending the war.
"Given the influence of the US, we have a chance to achieve peace. And we are doing everything within our power to make that peace happen," he said.
As a reminder, 51 UN member states jointly called on Russia to agree to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire, emphasizing that Ukraine agreed to such a step back in March 2025.
Earlier today, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Russia had expressed interest in a truce with Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for his part, said Kyiv was ready for an energy truce with Russia. Ukraine is ready to stop strikes on Russian energy facilities provided that Moscow also halts attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
