During the war, only 33% of Ukrainians feel happy, while 28% feel unhappy. About 40% of Ukrainians choose the option in the middle between happiness and unhappiness, according to the End of Year Survey by Gallup International.

In terms of happiness, Ukraine is second from the bottom among the 35 countries that participated in the study. The last place is taken by India.

The report says that although over a third of respondents worry a lot about their lives, most Ukrainians (62%) still take life as it is and adapt to the realities of war.

The percentage of very worried answers in Ukraine is almost the same as the global average. Most respondents are worried in Colombia, Argentina, Japan, Iran, and India.

The End of Year Survey (EoY) is a global annual survey conducted by Gallup International on the future, happiness, and economic expectations of the population of different countries. In 2024, 35,882 respondents were interviewed in 35 countries. In Ukraine, the EoY survey was conducted by Rating Group for the second time. The survey in Ukraine was conducted on December 2-5, 2024, among 1000 respondents.

According to the World Happiness Report 2025 survey, Ukraine dropped to 111th place in terms of happiness in 2024 from 105th place in 2023.

According to KIIS, in 2024, 87% of Ukrainians experienced at least one stressful situation. Most often, it was Russian strikes and bombing. In 2023 and 2024, the worst figures since 2000 were recorded. In 2013, the pre-war year, 52% of the population was in some kind of stressful situation.

Before Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine ranked 38th out of 44 countries in terms of happiness in a Gallup International study.
