Zelenskyy said he met in Doha with Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani was also present at the meeting.

According to the president, the sides discussed protecting lives in both countries and agreed on projects in the defense industry.

“We discussed issues that could further strengthen the protection of life in both countries and agreed on a mutually beneficial partnership in the defense sector for at least 10 years. Following the meeting, our Chiefs of the General Staff signed an agreement, which provides for joint defense industry projects, the establishment of co-production facilities, and technological partnerships between companies,” Zelenskyy said.

He also added that he briefed the Qatari side on the security situation in Ukraine, ongoing Russian attacks, and Moscow’s close cooperation with the Iranian regime.

“Strengthening air defense is a priority for us, and we count on support from our partners,” Zelenskyy said.

What else is known

Minutes after Zelenskyy’s post, Rustem Umerov confirmed that the agreement had been signed and shared additional details.

According to him, the deal establishes a framework for long-term cooperation in security, particularly in countering modern aerial threats and strengthening defense capabilities.

“The document also provides for the development of joint projects, technological cooperation, and investment in security solutions,” Umerov said.

Zelenskyy’s Middle East visit

As a reminder, Zelenskyy arrived in the Middle East several days ago. Yesterday, he said he expects Middle Eastern countries, in exchange for assistance in countering Shahed drones, to help supply diesel fuel.

Ukraine is also signing a series of agreements. In particular, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and Saudi Arabia recently signed a defense cooperation document, laying the groundwork for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investment.

It also became known today that during a meeting with the president of the United Arab Emirates, Zelenskyy agreed on security and defense cooperation.
