The first underground kindergarten has opened in frontline Zaporizhzhia. The facility, located in a safe underground space, will be able to accommodate 115 children, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said.
The underground kindergarten has a separate radiation shelter covering more than 900 square meters, designed to accommodate 140 people.
The preschool has been equipped so that children can safely learn, rest, and eat throughout the day.
The shelter has also been fully adapted and made accessible for children with special educational needs.
According to Koretskyi, the government, together with local authorities, continues to work on creating safe conditions for the educational process amid the constant Russian threat, primarily in frontline cities and communities.
"Now 115 children will be able to learn, rest, and eat throughout the day in a safe space," the prime minister said.
Ukrainian cities continue to restore the educational process and adapt social infrastructure to the conditions of martial law.
In particular, a project for underground kindergartens was previously announced in Zaporizhzhia. They will serve both as educational facilities and as safe shelters during the threat of Russian attacks.
