Ukraine may begin bilateral negotiations with Russia, but such dialogue is only possible after a complete ceasefire, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Ukrainian President believes that Russia is reluctant to engage in direct negotiations with Ukraine, despite hints from the Kremlin. According to him, these signals could indicate either a fear that the US will exit the negotiation process or a desire that Washington will stop participating in it.

"As for any negotiations, where are the results? If the Russians are ready for a complete ceasefire, after a full ceasefire, with an understanding of the timeframe, we are ready for any format of negotiations with them," Zelenskyy added.

The President, commenting on US-Russia negotiations, expressed hope that Ukraine knows everything it needs to know.

"I mean specifically the issue of Ukraine," he clarified.

Putin's statement

On April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposal to halt attacks on civilian infrastructure for 30 days.

According to the Kremlin leader, this initiative requires further consideration. He also suggested the possibility of bilateral negotiations with Ukraine to discuss such a matter.

On Sunday, April 20, Russia violated the Easter ceasefire proposed by Putin nearly 3,000 times.
