Ukraine has great potential in the production of drones and missiles, as well as other weapons, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He said that despite all the difficulties, Ukrainians are creating a national defense product. And in terms of some parameters, it is ahead of many others in the world.

“We were able to establish the production of our domestic artillery in record time and with high quality. We are already producing 40 of our Bohdanas per month. This is a significant result. We thank the manufacturers,” Zelenskyy said.

The president added that last year, Ukraine supplied 2.4 million mortar and artillery shells of various calibers to the front. He believes that Ukrainians are currently the leaders in Europe in the development and use of drones.

“Ukrainian naval drones have become a global defense sensation. They have allowed us to regain control of part of the Black Sea, which is necessary for the stability of our state and the protection of our cities, Odesa and others. For the first time in its history, the Russian fleet in the Black Sea was driven away to the vicinity of Bucharest,” he said.

About the Bohdana self-propelled gun

The Bohdana is a 155 mm wheeled self-propelled artillery unit, the development of which began in 2018. It became the first domestic self-propelled gun developed in accordance with the 155 mm caliber standard for North Atlantic Alliance countries.

The self-propelled gun saw its first combat action during the battle for Zmiinyi Island in 2022. In 2023, it was officially adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Last year, Zelenskyy spoke about producing 10 self-propelled guns per month.

And in December 2023, according to the president, the Ukrainian industry produced only six self-propelled guns per month.
