Ukraine names condition for talks with Russia
Currently, Ukraine is not ready for negotiations with Russia. To begin talks, the country must be strong enough to speak with the aggressor on equal terms, the Ukrainian news agency Suspilne reports, citing Andriy Yermak, Head of Zelenskyy's Office.
"For the negotiations to begin, Ukraine must be strong, and only then will it be able to speak with Russia on equal terms. Because everything that is currently coming from the Kremlin is the language of ultimatums," the Head of Ukraine's Presidential Office said.
According to Yermak, this is why discussions are taking place with partners about the importance of strengthening Ukraine and dismantling Russian narratives that Ukraine allegedly wanted the war.
"Ukraine did not want it and did not provoke Russia in any way. Russia came here not to protect anyone because it doesn't even protect its own territory (referring to the Kursk region - ed.). For Putin, it is important to continue the aggression on our territory," the Head of Zelenskyy's Office emphasized.
Ukraine's negotiations with Russia
Just the day before, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that peace negotiations to end the war between Ukraine and Russia could begin as early as this winter.
At the same time, according to a survey, skepticism predominates among Ukrainians regarding "negotiations for the sake of negotiations." Moreover, the majority of Ukrainians do not accept concessions to Russia.
