On the night of August 20–21, Russia launched a drone attack on the Bolhrad and Izmail districts of the Odesa region. The Tiutiun border crossing on the border with Moldova was damaged, and its operations have been temporarily suspended, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Russia struck checkpoint

On the night of August 21, Russian troops attacked the Bolhrad and Izmail districts of the Odesa region with Shahed-type strike drones.

As a result of the Russian attack, hits were recorded on the infrastructure of the Tiutiun international border crossing on the border with Moldova.

Russian strike damaged buildings and structures at the border crossing. Fires broke out at the site, which were contained by personnel from Ukraine's State Emergency Service.

Tiutiun temporarily closed

Traffic is being redirected to other crossings

Currently, no people or vehicles are being allowed through the Tiutiun border crossing. The Ukrainian side has informed Moldovan representatives of the incident.

Vehicles are being rerouted through other border crossing points. Citizens are advised to take the temporary closure of Tiutiun into account when planning their trips and to choose alternative routes in advance.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine also shared photographs from the site of the shelling of the Tiutiun–Myrne international border crossing, located on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.

The agency emphasizes that further announcements will be made regarding the resumption of operations at the border crossing.
