Ukraine has large reserves of titanium, which may account for up to 20% of the world's. Ukraine is also developing a powerful industry for the extraction of building stones, including rare labradorites, Olena Remezova, Doctor of Science in Geology, Chief of Mineral Deposits Geology Department of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, told RBC-Ukraine.

Ukraine has significant potential in the extraction of titanium and building stones, which can change the situation in global markets.

According to geologists, titanium reserves could be up to 20% of the world's, making Ukraine one of the key players in the extraction of this strategic metal.

Although some international sources claim that Ukraine's share of global titanium reserves does not exceed 1%, this is far from the truth. Ukrainian titanium deposits, even the average one, are superior to many Russian ones.

Building stones: Ukraine's powerful potential

Equally important is Ukraine's potential in the extraction of building stones, especially such rocks as granite and labradorite.

The Zhytomyr region, for example, is home to about 300 quarries that extract non-metallic materials used for construction and decorative products.

Polished stones from this region are in high demand for interior decoration, and labradorites with iridescence of various shades are a rarity sought after on the international market.

The unique properties of Ukrainian labradorites, especially their ability to create an iridescent effect, are not found in Europe. Such rocks are found only in some countries, such as Norway, which makes them even more valuable for the international market.

Where are the metal deposits in Ukraine?

Ukraine has substantial deposits of rare earth metals, which are of great importance for modern technologies. The main deposits are concentrated in the Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions and the Eastern Azov Sea region.
