Ukraine launches new state evacuation system to protect people from frontline areas

The government is streamlining the evacuation process for residents of frontline communities and launching a State Information System to coordinate evacuations and provide assistance to people from temporarily occupied and frontline areas, reports Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
She said the new system will clearly define responsibilities among agencies involved in evacuations and help assess the needs of evacuees.
"This will improve the services people receive in transit centers and temporary shelters," Svyrydenko added.
She explained that the evacuation process will now have a clear chain of coordination:
- The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories, through the Coordination Headquarters, will oversee overall management.
- The Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity will be responsible for social support and reintegration of evacuees into local communities.
- The State Emergency Service will handle safety, alerts, and technical aspects of evacuation.
- Local administrations will organize assembly points, registration, transportation, and everyday assistance.
- The National Social Service will coordinate multidisciplinary teams that include social workers, psychologists, lawyers, and medical staff.
"People forced to leave their homes because of fighting must receive proper care and support. We are working to ensure decent conditions for them," Svyrydenko said.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a new mechanism for cooperation with frontline regions. It calls for appointing deputy officials in each ministry and the central executive body responsible for policy toward frontline areas.
