Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of separate assault forces with drones, which will become operational soon.

Ukraine now has assault battalions and regiments that have delivered solid results throughout 2025. According to Zelenskyy, these achievements have prompted new organizational steps in the military.

"The Russians decided to do the same as we. We will now create separate assault forces. This decision has been made. Everything is being prepared, and I think it will be fully operational within about a week to ten days. Modern assault forces with drone capabilities and all other components," Zelenskyy said.

On March 3, Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, told RBC-Ukraine that the size of the Russian ground army fighting Ukrainian defenders is about 620,000 personnel.

He clarified that more than 200,000 of these are assault units actively engaged in combat on the front lines.

Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that over 700,000 Russian soldiers were deployed near the front line in Ukraine as of September 18.

As of today, Russian army losses have exceeded 1.1 million personnel, including killed and wounded. In just the past 24 hours, the enemy lost 1,070 soldiers on the front lines.
