Ukraine is facing new stage of war with Russia - Zelenskyy
Ukraine is facing a new stage of war with the Russian Federation. The enemy plans to expand its offensive actions, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his address to border guards on the occasion of the Day of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
"Today marks the 800th day of the war. It's an incredibly challenging and harsh path that our state has had to endure, and a path that still needs to be taken to end the war on fair terms, on Ukraine's terms. Right now, we are facing a new stage of the war. The occupier is preparing to attempt to expand its offensive actions," the president stated.
As Zelenskyy noted, today all Ukrainians, as well as Ukraine's allies, must do everything possible to thwart Russia's plans. It is important to demonstrate that the enemy, no matter how underhandedly they act, will not be able to achieve their goals under any circumstances.
Recently, the president stated that Russia plans to occupy Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region by May 9th. Meanwhile, if our soldiers can withstand it, it will allow us to thwart the enemy's plans for an offensive in June.
In an interview with The Economist, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Vadym Skibitskyi, revealed that the enemy's top priorities are the full occupation of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He also confirmed information about the enemy's orders to "capture something" before the celebration of the so-called Victory Day or the visit of dictator Vladimir Putin to Beijing.
Skibitskyi also speculated that the enemy may be preparing for an offensive in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions in the northeast, but the timing will depend on the strength of the Defense Forces in the Donbas. Meanwhile, the main Russian offensive may begin "at the end of May or the beginning of June."
