Ukrainian defense forces struck two Russian oil refineries — the Krasnodar and Syzran facilities — overnight on August 30, according to the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"In order to reduce the enemy’s offensive potential and complicate fuel supplies to the occupiers’ military units, the drone units and Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Krasnodar Refinery (Krasnodar Krai, Russia)," the General Staff stated.

It is known that this refinery produces 3 million tons of light petroleum products per year — including gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel — and actively participates in supplying the Russian armed forces.

Numerous explosions and a fire were reported at the Krasnodar facility.

Additionally, the drone units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Syzran oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region for a second time. The facility produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, fuel oil, and bitumen. As of August 2025, its annual processing volume reached 8.5 million tons.

"The defense forces are taking measures to undermine the offensive potential of the Russian occupiers and force Russia to end its armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff added.

The commander of the Ukrainian drone units, Robert Brovdi, also published a video of the strike on the Krasnodar refinery.

Strikes on Russian oil refineries

Ukrainian defense forces regularly strike enemy oil refineries that supply petroleum products to the Russian military. Last night, unknown drones attacked the Krasnodar refinery. A fire broke out there following a series of explosions. More details can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.

Additionally, on the night of August 28, drones attacked the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara. On the same day, a successful strike caused a fire at the Afipsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai.

Earlier, we reported that on August 15, explosions were heard at the Syzran refinery in Russia’s Samara region. The Russians complained about an attack by unknown drones on the facility.

It should be noted that during the first two weeks of August, drone strikes reduced oil refining in Russia by 21%.
