During the night of May 1, Russia attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles and UAVs. A total of 74 drones were successfully shot down, the Air Force of the Amed Forces of Ukraine reports.

During the attack, the enemy launched:

  • 5 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea;
  • 170 strike UAVs and decoy drones from the areas of the Russian cities of Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea.

To repel the attack, the following were involved:

  • aviation;
  • anti-aircraft missile units;
  • electronic warfare units;
  • mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As of 08:30 a.m. Kyiv time, the downing of 74 drones was confirmed in the eastern, northern, southern, and central regions of Ukraine. In addition, 68 decoy drones were lost locally without causing any harm.

The following regions were affected by the attacks:

  • Odesa;
  • Kharkiv;
  • Sumy;
  • Donetsk;
  • Kyiv regions.

Russian shelling of Ukraine

Since the start of the full-scale war, Russian terrorists have regularly shelled Ukrainian territory. Civilian infrastructure is often targeted, creating an additional threat.

The enemy uses various types of missiles, drones, artillery, and guided aerial bombs for attacks. Nighttime strikes occur almost every night. For example, during the night of April 30, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with over a hundred drones.
