Ukraine halts grain corridor over Russian threats
Ukraine has suspended the new grain corridor because of a possible threat from Russian military aircraft and sea mines, according to Barva Invest company.
"We want to inform you about the temporary suspension of vessel traffic in and out. The current ban applies to October 26, but it is possible that it will be extended," the message states.
Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority had previously announced that vessel traffic in and out of the corridor would be suspended from October 26, 2023.
Such a suspension had, in fact, been in effect for the last two days due to the decision of the military, who cited an explosive threat resulting from increased Russian aviation activity, the message states.
Grain corridor
Ukraine continues to work on expanding the maritime corridor because Russia continues to pose threats after its exit from the grain deal.
Greece is ready to provide an alternative export route for Ukrainian grain through its ports.
