Ukraine frees 51 civilians in prisoner exchange with Russia

During today's exchange, Ukraine managed to return 51 civilians from Russian captivity. To achieve this result, the Ukrainian negotiation team used all available tools, including international mediation, said Andrii Yusov, Representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
"Preparation for this particular exchange actually lasted a long time, and it was difficult work. Naturally, the enemy has its own vision and certain points that need to be pressured. The Ukrainian negotiation team used all tools, including international mediation, to achieve this result," Yusov said.
He noted that these are not all those who were in Russian captivity. Work continues, and the result will definitely come.
"But today there is a primary school teacher, entrepreneurs who were illegally detained, of course, volunteers and defenders who were in Russian captivity. Each of these stories is a story of dignity and human struggle for one's own country and freedom. Such exchanges will continue," the representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine added.
Prisoner exchange
Today, August 14, another prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 84 people returned home today.
"These are both military and civilians. Almost all of them require medical assistance and significant rehabilitation," the head of state said.
The Coordination Headquarters noted that today's exchange is special because among those returned are people who have been in captivity since 2014.
This is already the 67th prisoner exchange with Russia, during which 33 military personnel and 51 civilians were freed.
