Several countries that depend on Black Sea supplies could help push Russia toward a ceasefire in the region, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said.
He noted that the Black Sea issue is among the topics currently being discussed in talks and considered as part of de-escalation efforts.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that several countries depend directly on Black Sea supplies, including those provided by Ukraine.
"And these countries could play a more active role in encouraging Russia to agree to a ceasefire format, a so-called food truce in the Black Sea, which Ukraine is ready for. Russia's consent is needed for it to take effect," Tykhyi said.
As previously reported, Türkiye called on Ukraine and Russia to stop attacks in the Black Sea. At the same time, Ankara for the first time expressed its readiness to take "legal action" in the event of attacks on vessels linked to the country.
NATO will also strengthen its presence in the Black Sea. The Alliance plans to deploy more patrol aircraft, electronic warfare systems, and drones following a series of attacks on vessels in the region that may be linked to Russia's war against Ukraine.
In addition, it was previously reported that Bulgaria would join NATO's initiative to counter drones amid attacks on vessels in the Black Sea.
