Ukraine expects new EU tranche in coming days, Zelenskyy says

Ukraine expects a new budget support tranche from the European Union in the coming days, according to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state thanked the European Commission and the European Union for preparing the decision on another tranche of financial support.
"Last week, we received €3.3 billion for weapons, and in the coming days we expect another good financial news from Brussels — budget support, another tranche. I thank you. These are still the figures that were agreed in advance," the president said.
Zelenskyy added that he had spoken with the president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
"The bank is working extensively with us, with Ukraine, supporting our energy sector and the protection of critical infrastructure. We discussed the challenges ahead of winter, our needs, and what we can strengthen in our relations to provide greater protection for people," the head of state said.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said that Ukraine had received a €3.3 billion tranche from the EU under the Ukraine Support Loan program. The money will be used for priority defense needs.
In addition, Zelenskyy said that the Defense Ministry’s $27 billion budget deficit partly concerns military personnel payments, but is mainly related to funding for missiles and drones.
