EU delivers new €3.3 billion tranche to Ukraine for defense needs

Ukraine has received another €3.3 billion tranche from the European Union under the Ukraine Support Loan program. The funds will be directed toward urgent defense needs, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi stated.
Ukraine has received another €3.3 billion tranche from the European Union under the Ukraine Support Loan program. The funds are expected to be used for urgent defense needs, including the purchase of missiles and drones.
The government thanked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission and all EU member states for their continued support for Ukraine and efforts to strengthen the Defense Forces.
The payment marks the fourth installment under the defense component of the Ukraine Support Loan program, which covers 2026–2027.
The program provides for up to €90 billion in total: €30 billion in budget support and €60 billion for defense. Earlier, on September 11, the European Commission approved €6.1 billion for Ukraine's air defense, including PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
The European Commission had previously announced that it would allocate €3.3 billion to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles, ammunition and drones, as well as launch a new joint defense projects program aimed at developing Ukraine's air defense capabilities based on the Freya system.
