Ukraine expects NATO air defense to counter new Russian ballistic missiles - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. They discussed strengthening Ukraine's air defense, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine expects a decisive and timely response from NATO to Russia's expansion of the war. Specifically, the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting at the level of foreign ministers will take place in Brussels on December 3-4.
"Ukraine relies on support for the transfer of air defense systems capable of intercepting such missiles. The list of air defense systems in service with NATO countries was handed over to Ukraine's partners," the Presidential Office said.
The President emphasized the importance of receiving an invitation to NATO and continuing defense cooperation with Alliance countries. The conversation also focused on supplying long-range systems and the critical need for the delivery of weapons from the announced aid packages.
Strike on Dnipro
Last week, Russian forces tested their new weapon in combat conditions. Dnipro was attacked with a medium-range ballistic missile.
Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that this was a new Russian missile, Oreshnik. He also threatened that Russia could strike military facilities in the US, UK, and France.
