Ukraine eliminates Starlink jamming system in occupied Kerch: Satellite images

In occupied Kerch, a Russian electronic warfare system, Volna Kupol Garant, which was used to suppress Starlink operations, was destroyed, according to Militarnyi.
Photos released show the locations of burned-out installations. Most of the trailers were moved after the strikes.
How the Volna Kupol Garant system works
The system consists of a set of satellite antennas mounted on multiple trailers.
It generates strong interference targeting a specific Starlink satellite in the 14–14.5 GHz frequency band, disrupting communication between the satellite and ground terminals.

One system provides "protection" for an area of approximately 20 km².
The Russian manufacturer Russkiy Kupol does not disclose technical specifications; however, according to Militarnyi, the cost of one system is around 150 million rubles.
Why it is easy to detect
Despite its ability to create interference, the system has significant vulnerabilities. SpaceX can quickly detect disruptions in communication channels, while reconnaissance satellites from partner countries pick up the system’s strong emissions, making it easier to locate. Ukraine’s Defense Forces then rapidly identify and strike such installations using drones.
After SpaceX blocked illegal Starlink terminals in February 2026, the Russian army faced serious communication problems on the front line, with assault operations partially coming to a halt.
Russia began mass searching for alternatives to Starlink, but its own satellite systems turned out to be vulnerable.
In April, Unnamed Systems Forces for the first time destroyed a new compact satellite communications station, Spirit-030, which Russia had begun mass-supplying to the front.
