Ukraine is developing new interceptor drones. They will help protect energy facilities from Russian attacks, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit, which is taking place in Odesa.

The head of state spoke about several layers of protection for energy infrastructure.

He said that Ukraine is both defending and rebuilding, and it requires significant funding. But above all, the primary defense is air defense systems, the President added. He noted that he would not disclose the locations of these air defense systems, as once Russia learns of them, it targets them. That’s why Ukraine constantly changes the routes and positions of its air defense systems.

According to him, Russian forces are currently launching over 300 drones per day against Ukraine.

The President said that Ukraine has weapons that are still under development. The country is trying to secure more funding for mass production. He added that this includes various types of interceptor drones.

Interceptor drones

On May 18, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces reported that they had managed to destroy 100 enemy drones using interceptor drones.

The cost of a single interceptor drone is about 20 times lower than one Shahed.

It was first reported in April that Ukraine was developing drones specifically designed to intercept Shaheds.
